The Men’s Ministry (Band of Brothers) here at Missions of Light was created to fill a need, to reach out to those in need of God’s wisdom. It’s basically an online – group – Bible study. We meet here once a week, on Saturdays from 10am till 11am. During that time frame, the chat room is open and we can join together in the study of God’s word and discuss various topics. Each chat session will be opened and closed with prayer. Each session topic is made available prior to the chat session, for everyone to easily participate in the session. Chat sessions are not saved. So, anything personal or private that we may discuss will remain private. Site registration is required to participate in our group chat sessions.

We also have a prayer room where you can submit prayer requests, as well as pray for others. Site registration is required to submit a request, but not to pray for others.

The rest of the site is open 24 / 7 and will contain various articles, notes, podcasts, videos, and more (usually related to the current chat topics.). We encourage participation in all areas of this ministry. Feel free to comment on the various bits and even share your own resources with the group.

This site was created for those unable to attend a regular small group Bible study session, for whatever reason. It’s perfect for those with a busy schedule. Even if you can’t attend one of our chat sessions, you can still be a part of our group simply by visiting this site and utilizing its resources.

Why is it called “Band of Brothers?” As “brothers” in Christ, we are called to better ourselves, each other, our families, our community, and so on. We do this by coming together, as a “band of brothers.” I am a Veteran and during my time in the military we always had each others backs, no matter what. It was that closeness that kept us alive and helped us to win battles. That philosophy applies here, in our men’s group. There is strength in numbers!

Whether you want to admit it or not, we are at war with the enemy. Now so, more than ever. Just look around the world today and you will see the enemy at work. So as a “Band of Brothers” we come together to help rebuild our defenses, protect our families, to defend our Churches and communities! To fight back, through Christ. Much like Nehemiah did when he returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall and fortify defenses, as well as turn the people back to God. Nehemiah also helped his people, and so shall we. You may notice we use Nehemiah 4:14 on our shield.

Please note: we are not advocating any type of physical violence here. The battles we speak of are of a spiritual nature and fought through prayer and through our Lord, Jesus Christ.

So how did all of this get started, you ask? I belong to a small men’s group at my church. We meet once a week, face to face. However, I work second shift and it keeps me from meeting with my group. One of our pastors started a daytime group and invited all of us, unable to attend nightly groups, to attend. It got off to a good start, but not many attended regularly. There was some shifting of the meeting time and day, but it didn’t seem to draw in those that originally said they were interested. I am not sure what the problem was. Maybe it was the location, maybe it was the time. Long story short, our pastor was asked to head up one of our satellite churches and our daytime group more or less fizzled out. Wanting to continue studying God’s word in a group setting, I created this site. It’s not associated with the Men’s Ministry of my church.

Who runs this site? That would be me, Ed Snyder.

Who or What is Missions of Light? Simply put, Missions of Light (MOL) is a ministry based business venture that my wife and I are starting. It’s still in the planning stages at this point. The goal is for it to allow us to reach the lost, through business, to provide the main income for our family, and give us more free time to serve God. We are praying to have it up and running in the not-so-distant future.

Our Beliefs:

Mirroring the beliefs of my local church, MOL Men’s believes:

  • In the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God. (2Tim. 3:15-16)
  • In one God, eternally existent in three persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; Mark 12:29)
  • In the virgin birth of Christ, His vicarious, atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension. (Isaiah 7:14; Rom. 8:34; Acts 1:10)
  • In salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. (1 John 5:10; Rom. 10:13-15)
  • In water baptism by immersion. (Matt. 28:19)
  • In divine healing through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. (Isa. 53:4; Matt 8:16,17; James. 5:13,14)
  • In the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 15:8,9)
  • In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit who enables a believer to live holy. (Heb. 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15,16)
  • In the second coming of Jesus Christ. (Acts 24:15, Luke 14:14; Rev. 19:7-9)
